About the Business
AccessParks provides broadband services to some of the most challenging environments in North America: national parks and remote RV campgrounds. Their customers include KOA campgrounds as well as iconic destinations such as Yellowstone, Zion, and Moab. These locations require resilient, high-performance networks that support both visitors and operational staff in areas where connectivity is notoriously difficult to maintain.
The Technology Stack
AccessParks monitors a heterogeneous mix of network controllers, switches, and WiFi access points across hundreds national parks and campgrounds, connecting over 30 million outdoor guests to the internet each year.
Before InsightFinder, AccessParks relied heavily on their monitoring solutions such as Zabbix for anomaly detection and troubleshooting. Monitoring provided baselines into network health but the approach was largely reactive. Engineers had to wait for alerts or customer-reported issues before investigating. With a small operations team responsible for supporting vast, geographically distributed networks, this reactive approach created bottlenecks.
Today, AccessParks is in the process of layering InsightFinder’s AI-driven observability platform to augment their monitoring infrastructure. The goal is to identify more fine-grained anomalies, detect performance degradation before customer impact, and eventually automate corrective actions directly from InsightFinder’s intelligent agent framework.
The Problem
The challenge for AccessParks is twofold:
- Scale vs. Team Size: With a lean NOC team supporting hundreds of distribution nodes and access points across remote geographies, they lacked the bandwidth to manually review telemetry for early warning signs.
- Proactive vs. Reactive Monitoring: The existing monitoring solution could detect outages or threshold breaches, but it could not identify subtle anomalies such as micro-flapping (short up-down cycles under 10 seconds) or transient packet loss above 30%. These “hidden” signals often degraded user experience before escalating into visible outages.
“We don’t have the type of team that can manually review everything and look for these anomalies. Now, with InsightFinder, we can see tickets relative to flapping incidents and network health even before there is direct customer impact. That visibility just wasn’t possible before.” – Marcus Prieto, Director Network Operations Center, AccessParks
The InsightFinder Solution
Since beginning the partnership in July 2025, AccessParks and InsightFinder have collaborated to build proactive monitoring that goes beyond traditional thresholding. Key milestones so far include:
- Proactive Alerts for Flapping: InsightFinder detects micro-flaps and packet loss patterns that had not surfaced previously. These anomalies now trigger automated tickets, giving engineers actionable visibility into network health before customers notice an issue.
- Jira Ticket Integration: Automated, proactive alerts are routed directly into Jira with prebuilt summaries. This reduces triage effort, automatically assigns tickets to the right engineer, and accelerates response times.
- AI-driven automations: AccessParks has begun integrating InsightFinder MCP agent and action servers to achieve our common visions of automated incident response.
The Results
The most significant impact so far has come from proactive AI-driven observability:
- AccessParks can now detect and act on micro-flaps and subtle problems without relying on customer complaints or chance discovery by engineers.
- Integrations created by InsightFinder now help the AccessParks team by running local commands for diagnostic results that are included in JIRA tickets created whenever issues are detected, saving hundreds of man hours each day
- Tickets generated by InsightFinder are actionable and accurate, helping engineers prioritize remediation tasks alongside larger outages.
- Noise levels from Zabbix have significantly decreased with the help of InsightFinder AI models anomaly models.
As Marcus explained: “The flapping tickets are accurate and actionable. We take steps, we solve the problem, and that just wasn’t possible before given our team size.”
Plans for the Future
AccessParks’ vision extends well beyond anomaly detection. The roadmap with InsightFinder includes:
- Autonomous Remediation: Allowing InsightFinder’s AI agent to not only detect issues but also run standard commands (e.g., remote reboots) before escalating to an engineer.
- AI-Generated Runbooks: Tickets enriched with automated diagnostics, hypothesis generation, and remediation steps—reducing the cognitive load on engineers.
- End-to-End Automation: A future where proactive tickets are not just alerts, but closed-loop incidents. InsightFinder detects, diagnoses, executes corrective actions, and reports results—all before an engineer is even aware.
“Once we get to the point where the first ticket hits an engineer’s inbox and the problem has already been solved by the system, that’s going to be like unwrapping a new Nintendo back in 1983. That will be a game-changer!” – Marcus Prieto
Conclusion
AccessParks is still early in its adoption of InsightFinder, but the shift from reactive monitoring to proactive, AI-driven observability is already underway. By surfacing anomalies that were previously invisible and automating the ticketing workflow, InsightFinder is helping AccessParks scale its network operations without scaling headcount.
The partnership is built on a shared vision: to create intelligent networks that diagnose and remediate themselves. For AccessParks, serving customers in some of the most rugged environments in the country, this evolution isn’t just about efficiency—it’s about delivering reliable connectivity where it matters most.
